VIVA! supports artistic risk-taking and self-determination. As such, performances are often unpredictable, and might include triggering subject matter, nudity, self-harm, loud sounds, strong odors, and other intense sensory experiences. That said, we are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all audiences. If you have needs that are not addressed here, please contact us by email at info@2023.vivamontreal.org and we will do our best to accommodate you.
This year, trained staff will be on site in the evenings to offer support if a performance raises difficult feelings, or if someone’s behaviour or words make you uncomfortable. Non-consensual physical and verbal violence is however not tolerated.
The front entrance of the venue has a stone staircase, but a wheelchair accessible entrance is located at the back of the building and staff will be available to guide you there. Directions can also be provided upon request. All bathrooms are gender neutral, including an accessible one in the main space. The headquarters also includes a separate quiet area with materials for child-friendly activities. Masks are not required, but will be made available for those who want to wear one.
VIVA! recognizes that intersecting systems of oppression, colonization, and systemic marginalization operate across artistic communities, and we are committed to proactively working to provide an increasingly equitable and inclusive environment that honors the full diversity of our artists, members and community. We are committed to being receptive and continually learning.
