Gui B.B’s practice explores the medium of performance, its potential for imposture and healing. Thinking of performance as a world-building practice, she deploys undisciplined performative creations in which theatricality, irony, and voice emerge as key materials. By engaging with different forms of kinship, her process brings to light new constellations and possible reconfigurations of dominant narratives. In an abundance of objects-gestures, she creates spaces in which audiences can experience nonsense, and an eruption of alterations to normative identifications. Within these baroque spaces, she imagines playful transfictions and poetic self-narratives that feed a dissident mythology.
Her references and concepts sometimes dissolve into oblivion and get lost in accumulation. She neglects her back, her voice, and her memory, and takes the time to never be too prepared in advance.
