Gustavo Solar, El buen salvaje, 2013.

This performance has been cancelled. Without denying the framework of his own identity, Gustavo Solar has created conditions in which to explore and subvert other “figures” through the practice of performance, and its related forms. He is interested in addressing the transience of shamanism to actualize and merge different worlds of meaning, which he understands as a hybrid connection. He is also looking for the erotic that can be found within the modification of a symbolic terrain, beyond escape or catharsis, underlining its demise and collapse. His work is elaborated mainly as a vehicle for ephemeral structures and often uses low quality technologies to weave a matrix of polysemic narratives. These stories guard a certain ecology of feeling, a feeling that has given Gustavo ways of surviving destruction — in both general and specific terms —, a feeling that is rooted in a stressful world. The practice of performance is, for him, a contradictory environment for the rise of personal resistance, yet he has not been able to abandon it. Perhaps it is the only real reminder of that which has not yet been lived.
