A multi(un)disciplinary Vietnamese artist who has broken ties with the “Thi” in her name, Mai Bach-Ngoc Nguyen loves conflict; things that resist, that test limits, and that anchor her body in an intense but ephemeral moment.
Her investigations aim to propose tonalities, a set of affects and intensities during a shared situation. Self-critical of her own institutionalised ethos, she most often decides to create spaces where her proposals make sense with a new narrative shared with the audience. These new places carry with them actions that look to the future, focusing more on possible reverberations, power, and chaos.
Mai’s participation is supported by Centre d’art et de diffusion Clark.
